Biography —
Loma Linda University
Welcome to CAPS! I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and graduated from Loma Linda University in Southern California in 2015. I completed my APA Accredited Internship and Post Doctoral training at Family Service & Guidance Center in Topeka, Kansas. My training has allowed me the opportunity to have worked with individuals from newborn developmental assessments through 80 years of age throughout my career. I have developed a passion for working with populations in transition, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
My therapeutic style is relational and collaborative in nature. I conceptualize mental health and change from a psychodynamic perspective and believe that my impact in the therapy process is to support clients through their journey towards understanding themselves and identifying their underlying thoughts and feelings and how these are connected with current behaviors and experiences. Throughout sessions I utilize a variety of interventions to support change, such as exploring patterns of behavior and thinking, mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation, motivational interviewing. I also have specialized training in Exposure Response Prevention for Anxiety.
I also have a strong interest in psychological assessment and am experienced in both objective (cognitive, achievement, ADHD) and projective (reality testing, perceptions, personality) measures.
As a supervisor, I utilize a holistic approach to supervision. This approach allows me to build a strong relationship with supervisees and then utilize that relationship to scaffold their development. Supervision should create a safe space for making mistakes, learning with and from one another, and an openness to explore how all elements of a person impact their presence in the room with clients without judgement.
