Biography —
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end”
― Ursula K. Le Guin, The Left Hand of Darkness
Lia joined CAPS in August 2026 as a psychology intern. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2019 and is completing her PsyD in Clinical Psychology at Point Park University (Pittsburgh, PA). Her clinical experience includes practicum placements in university counseling centers serving undergraduate and graduate students, as well as training at an intensive outpatient program supporting adolescents at risk of suicide.
Lia’s approach to psychotherapy is grounded in a human-science perspective. She seeks to understand each client as a whole person, considering their relationships, culture, developmental history, and broader life context. She approaches therapy with curiosity and humility, and by recognizing that each individual brings a unique perspective into the clinical space. Lia works collaboratively with students to explore interpersonal patterns, gain insight, deepen self-understanding, and identify meaningful directions toward growth and change. Her clinical interests include person-centered and psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as working with suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues, children of alcoholics, personality disorders, identity-related challenges, international students, and grief and loss.
Outside of the office, Lia enjoys spending time with her husband, watching anime, listening to k-pop, playing gacha games, and caring for her two pet parrots, Kazuha and Ame.
