Laurie Wesely, PhD

Hello and welcome to CAPS! My career has been devoted to working with college students at university counseling centers and I can’t imagine a better job. I value education and helping clients navigate the ups and downs of their college experience. I view clients holistically and work to find what will be helpful for them to meet their goals, whether that is changing the way they think about things or themselves, changing behaviors, and/or exploring their emotions and bodily reactions to help gain insight into their concerns. Clients may need to “unlearn” things or ways of being that helped them be successful in past environments but are no longer serving them in the present.

In addition to providing therapy to students, I am a supervisor for psychology interns. I work from a developmental perspective where I collaborate with my supervisees to achieve their objectives for internship. My goal is to help interns improve their skills and transition from a student to a professional.

As the clinical director for CAPS, I welcome feedback so we may continue to grow and improve our services for students.
