Biography —

Washburn University

Clinical Interests: Anxiety, Depression, Personality Disorders, Trauma and Resiliency, Substance Use Disorders, Underserved and Underrepresented populations and the effects of Chronic Illness/Pain on mental health and overall functioning of individuals, families and systems.

Theoretical Interests: CBT, DBT skills teaching, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy,  Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care and the BioPsychoSocial Perspective of Addictions treatment.

Approach to supervision: My approach to supervision is to create a positive, collaborative relationship with students in which the student is supported and able to feel safe to explore clinical interventions and new ideas.  I also place a great deal of emphasis on the importance of accurate assessment and thoughtful differential diagnosis.
