Internship Benefits

The stipend for the CAPS doctoral internship is $31,500. The University of Kansas operates on a biweekly payroll. Interns receive 24 paid vacation days plus sick leave. Interns are eligible to enroll in group health and dental and optional vision insurance; coverage for dependents also is available. Coverage is effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment. For incoming interns coverage will be effective September 1. To maintain continuous health insurance coverage, it is necessary to maintain coverage through a previous employer's plan until coverage begins with the University of Kansas. Other support includes the CAPS physical and technical facilities. Each intern is assigned a private office equipped with a computer for writing reports, generating correspondence and other projects, maintaining a daily schedule of clients and providing internet/e-mail access. Each intern office also has a webcam for recording client sessions. Copying and limited secretarial support are also available. Campus facilities for recreation and academic pursuits are available to interns, as are some of the services offered by the campus health center.
