COVID-19: Guidance on When to Request a Telehealth Appointment or Reschedule an Appointment

  1. Do you feel unwell?
  2. Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms?
    1. Cough
    2. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    3. Chest pain
    4. Fever or chills
    5. Headache
    6. Muscle pain
    7. Sore throat
    8. New loss of taste or smell
    9. Diarrhea
  3. Are you waiting for test results for COVID-19?
 
If you answer yes to any of the above, please ask to have your appointment converted to a telehealth visit.
 
If you have been exposed to COVID, please get tested after 5 days and have telehealth visits with CAPS until you have a negative test result
 
If you have tested positive for COVID, please have telehealth visits or reschedule with CAPS until either:
  • You have isolated for 5 days (start counting with day zero being the first day you had symptoms), have improved symptoms, have been fever-free for 24 hours and have had a negative COVID Antigen test.
  • You have isolated for 10 days (day zero is the first day you had symptoms)

 

How do I make an appointment?

Counseling And Psychological Services (CAPS) offers remote appointments via Zoom for Healthcare and in-person appointments for currently enrolled students in the state of Kansas.  Students may call 785-864-2277 or come to CAPS in Watkins Memorial Health Center to schedule an appointment.

  • Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

After hours messages may be left on the CAPS answering machine. Messages will be answered the next business day. If you or someone you know needs service outside of CAPS hours, resources include:

CAPS professional staff consists of licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, board certified psychiatrists, graduate psychology interns, and other graduate students in training. Graduate students receive individual and group supervision by licensed senior staff.

For returning, in-person appointments, please do not arrive more then 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to minimize the number of people in our waiting room.
